A SNEAK PEEK FROM YOUR SOUTH AREA DIRECTOR -
SAM, 2013

This is it, my Quota friends! The "Last" South Area Meeting.. and since it's in my home town, we're going out with a bang! Each day will have a different "movie theme", packed with blockbuster fun!

On Thursday night (yes, Halloween) we're hosting a New Orleans style costume party at Paula April's "museum"... known to most of us as her eclectic home! You'll enjoy authentic New Orleans Gumbo along with lots of other Creole cuisine, while enjoying her endless collections and giant train room. The Voodoo King will make a special appearance, and there will be surprises around every corner!

With your optional ticket to the Early Bird Thursday night event, you'll be admitted to a FREE Professional Workshop on Saturday morning at the hotel from 9am to noon, on "Time Management" and producing a successful event from Paula, who has over 40 years of experience in Convention and Meeting Planning! What a bonus!

(Incidentally, if you want to attend this workshop and can't make it to the
Thursday night event, email me!)

Our SA session will begin on Friday afternoon at 1pm, but we'll end the day's session in time to visit the historic Southern home of Jefferson Davis. Click for more info There, we'll enjoy our themed night "Fried Green Tomatoes", where we'll all discover the "secret of life". Walk back in time through this stately mansion while sipping on mint juleps (or whatever your Southern heart desires) and gnoshing on a hospitable spread of Southern favorites. Your dinner is on your own, but you'll probably be too full after this evening!

We'll get a jumpstart bright and early Saturday morning with breakfast and lots of Quota news you can use, then continue with a working lunch. But since our theme for the day is "Little Shop of Ocean Springs", we'll wrap up early so we can hop a chartered bus to the largest art/crafts show in the South - the world famous Peter Anderson Festival in beautiful Ocean Springs... bring comfortable shoes!
Click the link for more info

The bus will return in time for you to get gussied up (that's what we call dressing up in the South) for a star-studded evening of "A Night at the Sammies"...
expect anything to happen!

On Sunday, well..... let's just say it will be an adventure that you DON'T want to miss!
"Vickiana and the Last Crusade"

More details and registration will be posted soon!

S.A.M. 2012 - Thoughts and Memories

QI SOUTH AREA MEETING, 2012
October 12-14th in San Antonio, Texas
at the Hotel Contessa on the Riverwalk

Where you there? 60 Quotarians from all over the South Area were!
(Scroll down for photo album)

What a weekend! 60 Quotarians gathered at the beautiful Hotel Contessa alongside the
famous San Antonio Riverwalk for fun, fellowship and sharing - Texas style!

After a Friday afternoon registration, we kicked everything off with a
cocktail reception on the hotel's river front patio. Lots of chatter, making new friends and
catching up with old friends were mixed with a rousing game of "People Bingo". Gee - we
had no idea that none of us wore colored contacts... and not a single newlywed in the bunch!

Saturday morning started with a Breakfast Gift Swap (who knew I needed a gold ice shovel?)
then that "ever surprising" club from Southeast Texas welcomed us all to their
home state with a "flash mob" to "Somethin's Gotta Hold on Me" - pretty darn appropriate.

The day was filled with stories to inspire, ideas to share, contagious laughter,
and thoughts that charged our batteries! International President "Sheriff" Laura Lahman
and President-Elect "Deputy" Karen Murphy "rode in" to town with a challenge to us all
"GIMME 5 new members and grow new clubs!"

QI Executive Director Kathleen Treiber made us all swell with pride,
as she reported on Quota world service.
QI Deputy Executive Director Nancy Fitzpatrick took us all "shopping with Nancy"
while sharing tips on increasing membership and how to stay in touch with the Quota world.
Past International President, Rosemary Hannie showed us how to leave a legacy and
be a visionary for Quota. What an honor it was to have 4 PIPs with us:
Rosemary Hannie, Lynn Stephenson, Enid Croes-Marugg, Gwenn Jackson
(All South Area Quotarians!)
We were all called to throw away those things
which prevent us from moving forward by dynamic speaker, Robert Felder.
All the while, "Lucky Lynn" was encouraging us to buy tickets for the exciting$500 Drawdown!
We got a unique opportunity to "meet" as a Region, as we gathered in our respective
Districts/Regions and got to know each other - even welcomed 2 members from Oklahoma!

That evening, many of us opted to cruise down the Riverwalk on our private cocktail barges,
while enjoying the sites and sounds of San Antonio.
We then joined in the Contessa Ballroom for a delicious banquet (I personally loved the
berries dessert!) We played a hilarious game of "Quota Match" then held our
collective breath during the exciting "$500 Drawdown"... the last 5 Quotarians chose to split the
$500 - Rosemary Hannie had 2 of the last 5 numbers! We also viewed a wonderful video
sent to us from PIP Charlotte Schamadan, reminding us that we "wear many hats" as Quotarians.

Sunday was a morning of inspiration, reflection and appreciation.
How wonderful it was to brainstorm together on the "best ideas" to move forward!

SAM 2012 is history... but the best is yet to come!
Here are a few photos... post yours on our Facebook Page!
